Dunes Backpackers is a must for all travelers passing through Swakopmund. Centrally located, Dunes is a stone's throw from the ocean, close to major shops and banks, an adventure booking centre, and Swakop's notorious nightlife!

Approaching Swakopmund on the main road from Walvis Bay, cross the bridge over the Swakop River. Take the second left turn into Anton Lubowski Avenue, and head towards the ocean. Dunes Backpackers is number 12, on the right hand side next to the Europahof Hotel.

Approaching from the Intercape busstop, walk down Hendrik Witbooi street away from the Pick and Pay centre. At Anton Lubowski street turn right, walk to towards the beach, we are 3 blocks down.

We offer affordable, comfortable accommodation in either dorm (4 to 10 beds per room) or twin format. All linen is provided.

• Twin and Double Rooms
This is a more private option, with en-suite shower and toilet. Linen provided.

• Private Dormitories (4 beds)
Our private dorms are ideal for small groups or families wanting a little more privacy. Each room has bunk beds. The rooms are en-suite. Linen provided.

• Group Dormitories (6 to 10 beds)
Ideal for the traveler on the move, the group dorms are affordable and vary between 6 and 10 beds per room. The rooms can be mixed or separate sex, depending on group request. Linen is provided, and bathrooms are shared between dorms.

There's definitely something to keep you occupied - when you're not off conquering sand dunes on a quad bike, dolphin cruising, or skydiving desert style!

For a start there’s our spacious entertainment area with indoor pool, sauna, pool bar, communal lounge with satellite TV, video library, and pool table. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will help with all bookings and travel info. The phone and internet service will keep you in touch, and our restaurant's home-cooked meals will ensure you never go hungry. We also offer a laundry service and loads of off-street parking.

The local currency is the Namibian Dollar which shares the same exchange rate as South African Rand, and both currencies are widely accepted.
